About Parbatya Bouddha Mission (PBM)

Inception and Legal Status

PBM came into existence in May of 1983 with the active initiative of a group of socially engaged local indigenous community along with other community people living in the Khagrachari Hill District. It was undertaken by local social workers, day laborers, educationists and philanthropists, with the goal of promoting the socio-economic status of the marginalized community in the three hill districts, and to facilitate them in establishing their economic & social rights in society. PBM was developed as a non-profit, non-political and non-government development organization.

PBM is registered with the Department of Social Welfare Directorate and the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh Government (Registration No. 06/85 & 997 respectively). The registration of the Department of Social Welfare Directorate of Bangladesh permits PBM to receive funds from local NGOs and the government of Bangladesh. The registration of the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh Government permits PBM to receive funding and donations from foreign NGOs, local donor agencies and individuals.
